7 to 8 pm – Performance of works by our Grasshoppers Student Composers Quinn Walker, Megan Caranto, Raul Huezo-Mayorquin, Jake Kawhaja, Andrew Silva and Maya Brown.
8:20 to 10 pm – Composers Jam Session – Community musicians encouraged to bring charts of their own compositions in lead sheet form or parts. Please bring parts and lead sheets transposed to Bb and Eb.
No cover charge! All ages until 10 pm.
At 7 pm, hear music by the young jazz composers who have participated in our workshop and mentorship series performed by Thomas Barber, trumpet; Lee Elderton, tenor saxophone; Jasnam Daya Singh, piano; Jon Shaw, bass; Ken Ollis, drums. After a short break, this quintet of PJCE musicians will serve as the house band for a Composer’s Jam Session. Composers are encouraged to bring notated, sight-readable compositions and musicians are encouraged to bring instruments as well to sit in.
