We here at PJCE Records are very excited about our upcoming Artist Showcase, a partnership with the Portland Jazz Festival. On Friday, February 28th, in conjunction with the acclaimed “PDX Jazz at the Mission” series, three artists from the PJCE Records family will present an evening of original music and short interviews, including a CD release celebration set by label director Dan Duval and longtime collaborator Graham Richards for their debut record, “Indian Summer.” This will be the first in a series of quarterly showcase events designed to promote our artists and build bridges with other local arts organizations. Our second showcase event will be a partnership with the Creative Music Guild in May 2014, details TBA.

Kin Trio

Sunjae Lee – saxophones; Andre St. James – bass; Tim DuRoche – drums
A unique brand of minimalist bebop from a generation-spanning trio. Sunjae’s music is as informed by his studies of natural medicine and meditation as it is by his impressive bebop chops and knowledge of the jazz canon. Kin Trio’s debut album “Breathe” was released on PJCE Records in March 2013 – the third release on the label.
Richards / Duval
Graham Richards – piano; Dan Duval – guitar; Bill Athens – bass; Stephen Pancerev – drums
New quartet by longtime collaborators Duval and Richards, featuring a notable Portland based rhythm section. This will be a CD release show for the groups debut album, “Indian Summer,” available on PJCE Records February 15th – continuing the labels second year of monthly releases.
Barra Brown Quintet

Thomas Barber – trumpet; Nicole Glover – saxophones; Adam Brock – guitar; Jon Lakey – bass; Barra Brown – drums
Barra’s debut album was released to positive reviews on August 15th on PJCE Records. He has assembled a group including New York City transplant and trumpet virtuoso Tom Barber as well as several younger players he has worked with in the Alan Jones Academy of Music and in his ongoing band, “Wishermen.” Barra’s compositions blend indie rock and jazz sensitivities, tempered by his background in classical flute and folk rock.
