Gordon Lee’s new solo jazz piano album is a masterpiece of creativity and musical expression conceived during the difficult time of the Covid-19 pandemic. As a Portland jazz piano legend, Lee’s latest work is a tribute to his talent and the resilience of the human spirit.

The album opens with “Sailing Thru Time,” a moody and introspective piece that captures the loneliness and uncertainty that many of us felt during the pandemic. Lee’s mastery of the piano is on full display here, as he weaves complex melodies and harmonies that capture the emotional landscape of the moment.

As the album progresses, Lee’s playing becomes more optimistic and adventurous. Tracks like “In the Lee” and “Sublime Forest” are joyful and uplifting, full of playful rhythms and soaring melodies that evoke the beauty of the natural world.

Throughout the album, Lee’s playing is infused with a sense of gratitude and hopefulness. The title track is a powerful meditation on the strength of the human spirit in the face of adversity. As Lee’s fingers dance across the keys, he reminds us that even in the darkest of times, there is always a glimmer of hope.

In many ways, this album is a testament to the power of music to heal and inspire. As we listen to Gordon Lee’s virtuosic piano playing, we are transported to a world of beauty and possibility. In a time when many of us have been isolated and disconnected, this album reminds us of the power of community, and the importance of coming together to support one another. If you are a fan of jazz piano, or simply appreciate the beauty of great music, this album is not to be missed..

Gordon’s Liner Notes:

Most of my songs on this album were composed during the seclusion time of covid. It’s always good to turn a time of uncertainty into a positive creation.
